I summited Everest!

(Well, I boarded a plane that took me to the top! Lol)

We only have one life here on Earth and I sure as heck want to live mine to the fullest! I have always dreamed of seeing the peak of Mt Everest and I recently had the incredible opportunity of ticking that dream off my bucket list!!!!

I expected that it would be quite a spiritual experience, and it was. How can anyone look upon the beauty and wonder of the Himilayas and not be overcome with awe. How can anyone reach the peak of the highest mountain in the world (29 028 feet) and not be impacted by the magnificence of our creator.

In that incredible moment as I looked upon Mt Everest from the small round window of my plane, I was reminded that life is an intriguing journey, one where he leads us along hills, valleys, rivers…. and mountains where there are both decents and ascents, highs and lows.

As his sons and daughters we long to reach those snow capped peaks. To see dreams fulfilled, hearts desires met and his plan fullfilled through our lives, but there is no short cut in reaching the pinnacle of a mountain (unless you take a plane of course! Haha). It’s a journey of walking with him and trusting him to get you to the destination, even when you encounter difficult and unexpected obstacles along the way. Even when it takes longer than you expected.

Many have attempted climbing Everest. Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay first conquered the mountain in 1953 and thousands have conquered it since. The journey was beautiful, the view extraordinary, but it didn’t come without intense opposition along the way. It takes faith to climb a mountain. Faith to keep going through uncertain and extreme conditions like avalanches, rock fall, weather and sheer tiredness. And.. Faith to reach that mountain peak.

I haven’t reached many mountain peaks yet. I haven’t seen the wonder of all my dreams fullfilled, hearts desires met or his plan for my life completed. But I’m climbing and I’m on the journey. I’m on the journey with him, my savior, my friend, my protector and guide. It hasn’t been easy. It’s been extremely hard and harsh at times. I have been broken, bruised, wounded and exhausted. But I’m still walking with the one who is writing my story, who knows the direction I need to take along this mountain. I’m still walking with the one who mends my heart and calms my storms…. And I’m still thankful for the lessons and moments of awe and beauty along the way.

Seeing the peak of Mt Everest that day reminded me that I can’t climb this mountain of life without him. It’s only together with him, in his timing, his plan and in his purpose that we can make it! Have faith! Keep breathing, keep getting up, Keep going and trust him along the harsh yet beautiful mountain journey.

Matt 19:26 “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
